Transcript of If I Stay

what would you do if you had to choose? Setting Protagonist Conflict Theme I felt a strong sense of imagery when the author started talking about the car accident. For example, when the author is talking about Mia's father and mother laying on the ground, i could picture that terrible sight in my mind. It is very disturbing, but it is also cool to feel like you're there. The main setting in the book is in Portland, Oregon. Mia, and her family get into a car accident on their way to Portland and soon Mia will be watching her and her family's fate go by. The protagonist in my book is a girl named Mia. Mia is a very musical girl, she loves to play the cello and listen to music. She is also a loving girl, her boyfriend's name is Adam, and she loves him very much. I would say she is calm as well, always very relaxed in situations. Mia is also caring and wise. The conflict is, is that Mia is now a ghost outside of her own body. She has been trying to figure put what this means. And now that she has she has to decide weather to stay on earth with her grandparents, best friend Kim, and her lovely boyfriend Adam. Or, does she leave earth and live with her mother, father, and brother Teddy. The choice is hers, but what should she chose? The theme of my book is to carry on no matter what life hands you. In the book there are examples of this because Mia always kept moving forward with life even through tragedy and heartbreak. She does this because she knows that the only way she can survive is by moving forward, plus it's just the right thing to do. Imagery If I Stay By: Gayle Forman Figurative Language One example of figurative language is "Time has passed". This is an example of personification. It is an example because time can't pass. This is applying a human quality (passing) to a non-human thing. Another example of personification is "the light softens the darkness". This is an example because the light can't soften anything, this is a human quality applyed to a non-human thing. Summary After a tragic car accident leaving Mia's mother, father, and brother dead Mia is forced into a hospital bed and is in a deep coma. But, while in this coma Mia is a ghost outside of her body watching her self all the time. She reflects back on her memories and then she looks at the future, she does all this to make a huge decision. The choice weather to stay on earth or to leave earth. She sees things that calm her and startle her, some pleasing things and some unpleasing things. She has to decide what is most important to her out of all these things. What would you do if you had to choose?
