Multiplying fractions

Multiply means "of"

e.g. 10 OF 3 = 30

So what is 1/2 x 2?

So what is 1/2 x 1/2?

Dividing fractions

Dividing means "in"

There are 20 halves in 10

So what is 5 1/2?

So what is 8 1/3?

This is the same as turning the fraction upside down and multiplying, which is MUCH easier to do!

To multiply fractions we multiply the top by the top (numerators)

and the bottom by the bottom (denominators)
