Though there were many clips in this video (and it was in German) what was the underlying theme? Use that to make your life function prediction

Hint: what do you see the cells physically doing?
This life function might be the hardest to deduce...hint: why are the cells green, what makes them green?
The order listed corresponds with the order of the videos on the prezi
How did you do with your predictions?
Please note:

If you think you know what the function of life is don't feel like you have to watch the whole video, some of them are pretty long.

Also, please turn off the sound on your laptops
The 7 Functions of Life:
1. Metabolism
2. Growth
3. Homeostasis
4. Reproduction
5. Response
6. Excretion
7. Nutrition

Metabolism
-Includes all chemical reactions that occur in cells
-Breaking down food into simple molecules

Response
The ability to sense changes in the environment and react to them
Examples
Sensing Danger
Breathing faster after running

Excretion
The process of removing waste from our body
Feces
Urine
Growth
-Is an increase in size
-Usually means an increase in the number of cells but could also be a growing cancer cell
Reproduction
-Can be making new cells
-Or reproducing a whole new organism for survival of the species

Nutrition
Obtaining nutrients for energy
Autotrophs- Can make their own (photosynthesis)
Heterotrophs- Need to eat other autotrophs or heterotrophs
Homeostasis
When an organism's metabolism is balanced
examples:
body temperature
blood sugar
