This surprise attack prompted Congress to declare war on Japan, and the United States entered World War II the next day. Pearl Harbor was the worst naval disaster in American history, with more than 2,000 casualties, dozens of aircraft destroyed, and 16 ships damaged or destroyed. The united states was in shock know one couldve of imagined that our all powerful nation would be attaked and our entire pacific fleet basicly wiped out. all of the japenese in the united states were forced to gather there belongings and live in giant relocation camps that were guarded by soldiers. The united states government wouldnt risk an invasion and believed alot of people to be spies for the Japanese army. while the japanese men fought over seas there families where harrased, there buisnessnesses and homes were raided and burned. children where excluded and discrimanated at schools. the japanese where the most decorated soldiers of the war
they fought valently and where still treated poorly by american citezens. thousands of japanese amiricans gave there lives fighting for the united states but yet and still Despite their valor and service, Japanese American veterans returned to a land that was still prejudiced against them USS West virginia in flames USS Arizona In Flames. The 442nd Unit was all japaneese and earned 18,000 citations for valor and 3,600 Purple Hearts; the men who later received the Medal of Honor were among 47 soldiers who had been awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. The impressive service record of Japanese American soldiers was important socially and helped further intergrate the Army for Blaccks, Native Americans and Asian Americans. B-29 raids against Japan."
