History
Softball was first introduced on Thanksgiving day 1887 at a Harvard-Yale football game. George Hancock invented the game. A female softball team started in 1943.
Fun Facts
*Women didn't start playing softball until a year later
*Didn't become a NCAA sport until 1910
*The original softball was a rolled up boxing glove
*It was invented in 1887
Softball Pitchers
During the motion you have to have 1 foot down at all times
Softball pitchers have a wide range of pitches they can use.
I have about 10 pitches that I can throw
The most common injuries is a shoulder injury
NCAA Softball
64 teams are selected to participate in the division 1 softball championship. The longest game was 25 innings long. The year of 1912 the first game was played.

USA Softball
Competes against Japan, Australia and others. The head coach is Ken Eriksen. They won 32 Gold Medals and 7 silver medals.

NPF Softball
4 teams are in the NPF league; The Akron Racers, Chicago Bandits, Pennsylvania Rebellion, and USSSA Florida Pride. It was founded in 2004. NPF stands for National Pro Fastpitch

There are 9 positions on the softball field. The catcher, pitcher, 1st baseman, 2nd baseman, shortstop, and 3rd baseman which is the infield. Right fielder, center fielder, and left fielder which is the outfield
