Greatest Of All
I Wanna With Somebody
Theme, Conflict, and Reflection
Conflict, Theme and Reflection
The conflict for "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", by Whitney Houston, would be character-vs-society because Whitney Houston wants to find somebody to dance with and to fall in love, but no one in her society is just right for her.
The theme of this song would be love is happiness to your soul. This would be the theme because Whitney wants the person she dances with to appreciate her.

The conflict for "The Greatest Love of All", by Whitney Houston, is an example of character vs. self. This song reflects character-vs-self because throughout the song she talks about loving yourself and being your own encouragement.
The obvious theme of this song is to love yourself and be
happy with who you are.

Mood and Tone
Mood and Tone
The song, "The Greatest Love of All", by Whitney Houston means to show confidence and to love yourself. This song is important to us because as human beings we always have times where we feel insecure about our selves and it is good to know that even famous people go through human problems. Which makes you have more confidence, and yes I believe it is important to other people to because of similar reasons.

When we listen to this song it reminds us of when we were younger, and life was just about having fun. Yes, it reminds us of when we started singing this song in the computer lab like it was karaoke night.
This song gives an exhilarating mood because it is very energetic and felicitous. For example in the song it states
"Oh! I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody
Yeah! I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me", in a very ecstatic tone. It just puts you in a very happy mood and makes you feel good about yourself.
This song also gives an ecstatic tone and a very fun and easy going one. For example in the song it states,
"Don't you wanna dance (dance) With me baby?
Don't you wanna dance (dance) With me boy?
Don't you wanna dance (dance) With me baby?", in a very energetic way and it really puts you in a good mood.

This song creates an empowering mood because Whitney clearly tells us to find our inner sparkle/self confidence. As Whitney states, "Learning to Love yourself, it is the greatest love of all" , and sometimes listening to a song is the best way to receive an important message.
The tone that Whitney attempted and succeeded to create is reassuring the idea that you can depend on yourself. As she states, "And so I learned to depend on me."
Figurative Language
One type of figurative language we found in "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" was personification when Whitney says " So when the night falls, my lonely heart calls." However her heart cannot really call.
Another type of figurative language we found in this amazing uplifting song was a personification. In the lyric "Still enough time to figure out how to chase my blues away." However Whitney's Blues cannot really run away.
Whitneys Blues
Figurative Language

1) Whitney says, "I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows." This is an example of personification because you can't really walk into anyone's shadows.

2) The song title is an example of figurative language. "The Greatest Love of All" is an example of a hyperbole because it is over exaggerated.

The chorus repeats throughout the entire song because it the overall theme.

The rhyming scheme is ABCB with lines 2 and 4 rhyming and lines 1 and 3 not rhyming.
"Clock strikes upon the hour
And the sun begins to fade
Still enough time to figure out
How to chase my blues away"
There are 45 lines
There are 5 stanzas
Yes the chorus repeats and also words and phrases. . I think Whitey did this because the chorus basically states the theme for the whole song.
No, it doesn't have a regular rhyming pattern but, sometimes in the song there are some rhyming though.
Literary Devices

1.) "My lonely heart calls" is not only personification it also shows symbolism. Her lonely heart symbolizes the feeling of
being not having someone to be with.

2.) Whitney uses allusion because the song seems like it is just about dancing, but in reality the indirect message is she wants to find somebody to love for the rest of her life.
1.) Whitney uses symbolism because the whole song she uses children to represent happiness.

2.) Whitney uses flashback because through the song she uses pictures of herself when she was younger.
Literary Devices
The feeling that is incomparable to anything
Love is what makes this world round
Love is what creates serenity
A.k.a not Trinity
Love is what everybody craves
Love is what everybody deserves
Love is what I see when I look at you
Whenever I step out on that stage
Everything shuts off
All of my worries wash away
I honestly don't remember them
All I do is go out there and preform
My mind just switches into a whole new realm
I become a whole new person
When I finish preforming
I take a courtesy and run off stage
And evaluate my whole performance
If I did well or if I completely messed up I still keep moving forward
