Prosthetic LIMBS Prosthetics is the branch of dentistry or surgery involving the replacement of a damaged or missing part with an artificial structure The most common people that get prosthetic limbs are car accidents victims and injured soldiers. The oldest prosthetic was found on an Egyption Nobelwomen from around 900 BC Historians beleive that egyptians first
used prothetics because of their beleifs
in the afterlife. There were major advances
during and after Civil War. How prothetics work:
1. The pylon is the frame of the prosthetic.
2. The socket is where the limb meets the prosthetic
3. Suspension system is how the prosthetic stays on. Types of prosthetics:
Thought controlled
lever or wire controlled
microprocesser
cosmetic
basic hook
basic leg
