Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Education Session 1 International History First secret society for women! (we were around before the word “sorority”)

Founded May 15th 1851 at Wesleyan Female College as The Adelphean Society. 200th Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi

Our charter was received on October 31st 2009– This date was declared Alpha Delta Pi Day by the mayor of Hamden. There were 84 founding sisters who where initiated by Grand Council Members.

We graduated our last class of founding sisters in Spring of 2012! Our Founders! Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald Octavia Andrew Rush Mary Evans Glass Sophronia Woodruff Dews Ella Pierce Turner Elizabeth Williams Mitchell "Adelphean" is derived from the greek word for sister.

We were founded by 6 of the finest women. Wesleyan College for Women Located in Macon, Georgia
Wesleyan was the first university to grant degrees to women.
All of the founders met while attending Wesleyan Female College.
The sorority Phi Mu was also founded at Wesleyan College but in 1852. (2nd secret society for women.) Symbols of Alpha Delta Pi Open Motto: "We Live for Each Other"

Mascot: Alphie the Lion, he stands for courage.

Flower: Woodland Violet, they can not be purchased.

Official Colors: Azure Blue & White. Azure Blue is symbolic of friendship and white is symbolic of sincerity and truth

Badge: Diamond shaped, featuring the clasped hands, two stars, and the Greek letters of Alpha Delta Pi.
