THERMAL PoLLuTioN Pollution threatening our environment 336 STOP POLLUTION http://izismile.com/img/img2/20090217/graffiti_01.jpg Sources
A) Traffic emissions
B) Residential and Commercial gas use
C) Airports
AiR PoLLuTioN Problems
• excess emission of gases/vapors into atmosphere
• saturation of chemical compounds/particulates
• rate of dissipation < (smaller than) rate of absorption through various cycles (i.e. carbon and nitrogen cycle)
• emergence of new chemical reactions of reactive and non-biodegradable compounds.

Global warming, acid rain, smog, ozone depletion are just some effects of air pollution.

Current measures being taken for Traffic emissions.
• adoption of tighter fuel and vehicle emission standards;
• adoption of cleaner alternatives to diesel where practicable;
• control emissions from remaining diesels with devices that trap pollutants eg Catalytic converters;
• strengthening of vehicle emission inspections and enforcement against smoky vehicles; and
• promotion of better vehicle maintenance and eco-driving habits.

Consider these sounds and what effect they are having on our environment. 6 major forms of pollution have been identified as being a global threat to the environment.

Each kind of pollution has significant impacts to our everyday lives, affecting all living and non-living factors in the biosphere and the atmosphere and also involve socio-economic factors.

These impacts have caused significant changes to the environment we are living in..... CAn we use our nuclear waste as the solution to our current energy crisis?

Has technology enabled us to prevent distasters that cast a negative view on this sources of immense power?

What about the waste product and safety concerns? Our throw away society and rapid growth during the industrial revolution is cause for concern!!! We can't just sweep it under the rug - what can you do to find a solution to this issue? LAND PoLLuTioN WATER PoLLuTioN Where does it come from?
•Sewage and waste water
•Marine Dumping
•Radio active waste
•Industrial waste
•Oil pollution
•Underground storage leakages
•Atmospheric Deposition
•Global warming
Many people overlook this form of pollution!!! So what is it??

Thermal pollution is the heating of river waters through deforestation or by using water to cool industrial material and release the heated water back into our oceans.

Already many of the coral reefs and fish life are being depleated at an astonishing rate. What can you design to help solve one of these problems to show that you are a caring and responsible world citizen? http://www.flickr.com/photos/mojoey/281114782/
