the city of the future Current cities evolution With the growing world population, cities are swelling and new metropolitan centers are emerging.
UN-Habitat expects that due to the unstoppable urbanization, by 2050 over 70 percent of the population will be living in cities. Projections regarding energy use world wide is also expected to continue its increase. I envision the future cities to be Smart and Green And to solve problems about Energy, Food & Mobility Energy The power source of the sun is

can sustain households for heating and warm water Wind power Solar Power Energy produced by wind turbines does not generate any pollutants.
Wind turbines provide gain of space as they can be very tall each taking up only a small part of land.
With future improvements of wind turbines' blades, wind turbines will create far less vibrations and less noise than currently, therefore allowing companies to place them in more place than actually; closer to habitations for example. Derived from plant sources, Biofuels energy source, will be used by converting millions of tons of waste into clean-burning energy.
Projects like Algae for Biofuel Butanol Production; which consist of creating fuels for automobiles by using algae; will not provide only clean energy but also will help to get rid of the exceed of algae in certain regions.
Using Biofuels will help to reduce pollution. Fuels & Recycling Recycling will be also a big part of the energy saving, developing clean, cost-efficient power sources by using non-biodegradable plastic waste and turning them into clean petrol. Smart Buildings
& Farming Currently, foods travels approximately 2500 kilometers before reaching grocery stores.
The city will need to provide more food and therefore will need to be more efficient regarding quantity and rapidity of growing.
That's why the cities will need to provide zero miles food production. Sustainable food One solution to answer the demand would be to create vertically integrated green houses.
This would allow firms or schools to grow in-house vegetables and at the same time to gain advantages of this such as cleaner isolation, cheaper food and bringing back the nature in the city. Bringing food into the cities is something that is not new but something that will need to be increased in the next generations of cities.
As an example, rooftop farming is coming with new projects like for example Aquaponics. Vertical Integration Working in symbioses between plants and fishes, this concept could be created on top of every building and could provide fresh vegetables and fishes harvested directly in the city without any need to import them. Urban electric vehicle (EV) will become part of our everyday life.
These care will use sharing services, you will get your EV when you want it and it will drive you where you want. Mobility The more the population of the cities increase, the more cities tend to get rid of the cars.
The use of the car as we know it will end and only public transportation or automated electric vehicles will be allowed to be used in cities Electric vehicles Electric charging station, will be available for public and private use. Real time travel information In parallel with the EVs, real time information will be a necessity to provide information regarding
Parking space availabilities
Public transportation like Taxis, Bus and their load Green cell phones New cell phone generation will give solution to the constant problem of having no more battery.
