Top 5 Causes For The Revolutionary War
1. The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was created by the English Parliament. The Prime Minister George Grenville announced the law many months in advanced. The tax was passed in March 1765. The tax was created to keep the Army running in America. The colonists responded by criticizing the tax and protested tax. The colonists were very angry at the Stamp Act. 1. England was directly taxing the colonies. 2. Taxing colonies without their consent. The colonies respond by boycott English products. Sons of Liberty-started by Samuel Adams to protest the Stamp Act. The colonists also responded by burning effigies(rag figures) of tax collectors. They talked with Parliament, but they didn't listen. Boston, Massachusetts is where the "trouble" is mainly occurring.(Boston is a major port/ trading center in the colonies) A lot of "Red Coats" are stationed in and around Boston.
William Pitt's
"Be to her faults a little blind
Be to her virtues very kind."
2. The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was created by the English government. This tax was created on April 5, 1764, Parliament passed a modified version. The tax was passed so that the people would buy the English product, that way the English made more money. They taxed the foreign sugar, molasses, and rum. The colonists responded by starting to revolt against England because of the Sugar and Stamp Act.

3. The Townshend Revenue Act
The British Government created this act. This act was created on June 29, 1767. Taxes were collected because they wanted 40,000 pounds a year to run the colonies.(taxed: paint, glass, oil, and tea) That is $64,684 in today dollars. The colonists reacted by forming crowds to mob custom offices, forcing the officials to retire to British worship in the harbor.

Thomas Whately
4. Writs Of Assistance
The British Empire/ English Government created it. In 1751 in Massachusetts the writs were first introduced. The writs were created to strictly enforce the
Acts Of Trade.
The colonists were unhappy with the laws because they didn't have "castle" homes. James Otis represented Boston Merchants in 1761 for the renewal of the act.
Let the consequences be what they will, I am determined to proceed.
James Otis

5. French And Indian War
"Your Army's style of marching was not well suited to fighting on the frontier. Lined up in the columns and rows wearing bright-colored uniforms, the troops became easy targets." George Washington (quote)
said about the English Army. General Braddock ignored George Washington. The war ended in 1763. The war was England vs France. England won the war and France Lost. Spain got Louisiana land from France. England left 10,000 troops in America to protect financial interests. Troops=$. The French & Indian War left England with a big debt. King Of England felt that the colonists should help pay the debt. The England payed for the debt by passing: Writs of Assistance, Townshend Revenue Acts, Sugar Act and Stamp Act. England's allies were the colonists. The French's allies were the indians.
