Grand Theft Auto IV Technologies Technologies can be identified by having devices that are controlled by hardware and console based devices. Grand Theft Auto IV is a perfect example of technology used within the video game industry. GTA IV was made for consoles like X box 360 & Playstation 3
Examples of hardware consoles are -Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, Game Cube, PSP, Nintendo DS Lite and X box Original. Graphics Has an increasingly realistic side which consists of two of the well known compatibles HD & Blu-Ray. Platforms ( The Consoles) This means a game is made for a particular console, this is a marketing stratergie that is used so that consumers can buy that specific console to play that specific game. GTA IV's platforms are Playstation 3, X Box 360 ant Microsoft Windows Peripherals/Consoles Joysticks Headsets Keyboards TV Add On Dance Mats/Microphones Guns Game Pads Guiters Technological Capabillities Nintendo Wii Is a home video game console. The Nintendo Wii has a distinguishing feature which is a wireless controller, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and detects movements from three dimensions. Nintendo Wii DSi Is a handheld game system, it features two digital cameras which supports both internal and external content storage. This new functionality was made to introduce personalization into the household, so that it made every family member want their own game system. iPod This is a portable media player created by Apple. There is a variety of iPod's e.g iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, iPod Classic and iPod Touch.
iPhone Is a line of internet and multimedia-enabled smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. Format of Games Most of the time its linear which are levels based or target based. This consists of cut scenes to provide narrative structure and developing characters. These cut scenes can be fairly extensive and are normally casted as films. This relates back to Grand Theft Auto IV because the video game consists of little clips as the main player makes his way through the city of New York. Video Game Developers Rockstar Games Inc. Distribution Shops - Examples are Game, Chips, Game Station and Zavvi. Online Sales - Examples are Play.com, Amazon, E bay and ShopTo.net OnLive OnLive was founded by the noted technology entrepreneur STEVE PERLMAN. OnLive is a high performance console which enables you to play games on your TV, PC and Macs. The companies that are distributing their games through OnLive are: Ubisoft, THQ, Electronic Arts, 2K Games,and Hidden Path. One advantage of using Onlive is that you get to download games straight away instead of waiting in long queues at the shops, also it can never be sold out because it is on the internet. OnLive Trailer Grand Theft Auto IV Trailer Rockstar Games is an American video game developer and publisher owned by Take- Two Interactive. The brand is mostly known for Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne and Midnight Club. Rockstar Games have developed their own game engine called the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) to facilitate game development on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Wii.
