What is a verb?
A verb is an action verb that shows what the noun is doing. There are many different kinds of verbs.
-Action Verbs
-Linking Verbs
-Irregular Verbs

Ex: Began,Begin
Blow, Blew,
Become, Became,
Sing, Sang,

The definition for Simple Verb tenses -Tenses represent the time of the reaction,which is indicated by a verb.

Smell, is, and were are the linking
verbs because they are linking the subject to the sentence
John is excited about his promotion.
A linking verb is a verb that links together the subject and the sentence. Linking verbs are not an actions unlike action verbs. There are examples down below.

The eggs smell rotten.

The kittens were playful.
