William Henry Gates III (popularly known as Bill Gates)
Born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, United States
Gates' parents; William Henry Gates II and Mary Maxwell Gates
Second of three children in an upper-middle class family, he had two sisters; Kristianne, who is older, and Libby, who is younger
Gates had been serious about winning, showing competitive skills even when playing with family and friends
He was extremely smart, he had always achieved straights A’s in school
Gates was a voracious reader as a child
Later on, Gates struggled in Laurelhurst Elementary, which is a public school
Gates' parents then moved him to Lakeside, a private school
After the move, his grades blossomed, he excelled in math and science and did well in drama and English
At the age of 13, Year 8, Gates found a sudden interest in computers after attending a computer club.

Bill Gates, was a very determined young man
He set his mind at the very beginning, to his dream
Gates then met his future business partner, Paul Allen (Microsoft co-founder). They shared a great interest in computers.
Gates and Allen both had a life ambition to start a computer programming business
Gates' 'natural talent in computer programming' earned himself a profit as well as being a recognisable face around school
At the age of 17, Year 12, Gates and Allen were paid $20,000 USD ($23,845 NZD) for a program called Traf-O-Data, which was used to count traffic
In early 1973, Gates graduated from Lakeside, elementary, after scoring 1590 out of 1600 on his SAT test, and was qualified to attend one of the world’s finest universities; Harvard University
Gates and Allen both decided to call their new business/company; Microsoft (micro-computers and software put together).

Gates and Allen then developed their first operating system (OS) called ‘BASIC’.
'BASIC' was a total hit and soon many companies were signing contracts with Gates and Allen to write different operating systems for their computer products
This is how Microsoft officially began - 1978
Microsoft kept on growing, as they hired more programmers, to cope with the growing demand
Today Microsoft is the largest computer software company in the world with over 90,000 employees
Their primary goal for Microsoft was; “A computer in every desk, and in every home running Microsoft OS.”
