Transcript of MACBETH: The Playlist

By Christopher Winfrey Macbeth: The Playlist Act 1 Thinking About You by Frank Ocean
Live Your Life by T.I. (featuring Rhianna) This song becomes relevant when Lady Macbeth makes a statement regarding the arousal of suspicion. If Macbeth wishes to not be penalized for the murder, he must remain calm and act normal. He must continue on as he would without allowing others to discover his intent. Act 2 This song would be appropriate because Lady Macbeth attempts to convince her husband to forget the entire event of the murder, because continuing to dwell on the memory would drive both of them mad. Act 2 This song is appropriate because it refers to the inability to sleep, and there is a line where Macbeth believes he hears a voice cry, "Sleep no more. Macbeth does murder sleep." This song has a chorus which says "I've been thinking about you," and "or do you not think so far ahead? Cause I've been thinking about forever." This could reference how Macbeth considered what the witches said as he plans to make his next move to make them come true. Act 1 Alright by Skindred No Sleep by Wiz Khalifa Act 3 Forever by Drake featuring Kanye West, Eminem, Lil' Wayne Now that Macbeth has gained power as the new king, he feels all-powerful and will eliminate anyone who may oppose him or reveal his true actions. This song represents his emotional state as he has grown in power from a thane to a king. Act 3 It's Not Over by Daughtry This song is appropriate because of the rising suspicion as Macbeth begins to hallucinate because of guilt. He sees the ghost of Banquo during the banquet. The ghost foreshadows the impending death of Macbeth, proving that Macbeth's prophecies aren't complete yet. Act 4 Can't Be Touched by Roy Jones Jr. Because of the witches' playful prophecies, they make Macbeth feel invincible. He believes that he will never be killed and that he will remain king. Act 4 RIP by Rita Ora featuring Tinie Tempah This song is appropriate because Macduff's family is slaughtered, including wife and children, and Lady Macbeth's son is also murdered. These events changed both Lady Macduff (who is dead) and Lady Macbeth (who is now facing extreme inner turmoil). Act 5 No Surprise Lady Macbeth begins to slowly become insane, muttering events that occurred, though no one understands what she says. It is obvious that her mental state is slowly deteriorating her sense of being, and in her mind, she would probably think "It's no surprise I won't be here tomorrow." Act 5 All I Do Is Win by DJ Khaled I chose this song because the story ends with Malcolm becoming king, though he feared death and ultimately survived the power of an evil tyrant, returning power to those who rightfully deserved it and allowing his friends to return home.
