UTOPIA DYSTOPIA The futures of .... & The positive And the negative The Utopians see the technology in their lives as something positive and as a source of happiness. The Dystopians see the technology in their lives as controlling and oppressive. Let's take a look at a Utopian family and see how their lives are influenced by everyday technology Let's visit the home of
the Utoper family and
see how technology
impacts on their lives. Utari and Usoa Utoper live in a comfortable apartment in the city. They are excited by the technology they have in their world and recognise
all the advantages it brings. But what about the Dystopians? How do their lives compare?
Do they share the same excitement for the technology in their world? Let's find out. Darri and Dyna Dystpi live in a government designated apartment in the city. They fear much of the new technology in
their lives and experience
many of the disadvantages. EDCMOOC: Final Assignment - Digital Artefact Topic: Utopia & Dystopia By S B Ryan (aka Cikgu Brian) This presentation, designed for younger viewers, will highlight differing concepts of what digital futures might offer. Technology can be experienced as both positive and negative depending on how it's used and perceived. These two families represent two very different experiences. Will a digital future mean an easier, simpler lifestyle for us all or one of greater governmental control and surveillance? The future is ours to design, but will we be happy with what we create? Only time will tell. . Credits Photo Auckland City photograph (original)
