Transcript of SEATTLE PORT

By Nathan Evans
The Seattle
Port developed over 106 years to have a huge impact on Washington and the US economies.
Because of their efforts, the Sea Tac Port has one of the lowest carbon footprint rates among other world-wide ports by creating the least amount of greenhouse gases in the industry. This defines them as one of the best ports in the world.
The Port of Seattle was created on September 5, 1911 from a messy jumble of privately owned and competing waterfront companies and turned into a public world trading center.
This is a birds eye view
of the Seattle Port 100 years apart
The creation of the port was the culmination of a long struggle whose roots stretched all the way back to the city of Seattle's founding 60 years earlier
Today, the Sea Tac Port continually strives to improve itself to stand out among other ports. Recently, they have completed the GHG (Green House Gases) assignment which funds research to help develop biofuel. Biofuel is a fuel created from living species that lessens the need for fuel created by the burning of fossil fuels and therefore it intensely lowers that carbon footprint rate that is produced by a plane, train, or road vehicle.
In 2016, they increased improvements and formed additional environmental groups. They are also partners with the Northwest Seaport Alliance (NSA), which is the combined cargo operations of the Seattle and Tacoma Ports. Their vessels have more than 10,000 TEU’s (Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit) ( At least 20 feet long and 8 feet tall.)
When you work in a port, you don’t only think about shipping vast quantities of material, but to consider how you can be as energy efficient as possible. Some goals the Sea Tac Port have set was to focus on using solar power whenever possible, to produce a minimum of 11,000 kilowatts of energy per year, and to leave the air almost as clear as they left it.
One worker there named Jason Jordan had quoted “Becoming a member of the Green Marine enhances our ability to exchange information about environmental programs and successes with an even larger marine community.” One great key factor that they are doing their job well is that they like to exceed requirements.
Some ways the Seattle Port keeps the port running is their massive release of biofuel. It is imported to help make future growth. It is a great space for cargo.
Sea Tac has made many improvements in the past years that consist of, keeping the land cleaner, rebuilding a pier so they could have two 18,000 TEU ships. They made larger ships too. They also started to support Green Marine which helps keep the air and water clean.

Thank You!!!!!!
The Port of Seattle is located just SW of Safeco field in Seattle. If you have been there, you will easily notice it because of the massive cranes for lifting the cargo from the ships.
If you want to ship goods, you must mail it to the port first. Then, the goods are protected through border customs. Then, the goods are taxed and cleared by a freight forwarder and move on to the destination.
The Port of Seattle is a multi- faceted organization that includes a sea port and an international airport. It supports industries as diverse as tourism and commercial fishing and is a key partner in building road and rail infrastructure.
The port is one of the largest land holders in King County, the port owns parks and public access areas, Sea-Tac airport, conference facilities at the airport and on the waterfront, recreational boating marinas, piers for workboats and cruise ships, office space, storage and warehouse operations, and more.
