National Distracted Driving Enforcement Campaign
Legalities
Enforcement is challenging.
Texting banned in 46 states.
April 2014 $16.5 for High Visibility Enforcement and awareness
Roving patrols, spotters on overpasses, stationary police vehicles strategically placed.
Any activity that diverts a person's attention away from the primary task of driving.
All
distractions endanger driver, passenger, and bystander safety.

Average 4.6 seconds - eyes off road
At 55mph, driving blind length of football field
At any given daytime moment, 660K drivers using cell phones or manipulating electronic device
Under 20's = greatest proportion age group
Key Facts and Statistics
In 2014, 3,179 people were killed, and 431,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers.
Nine percent increase in injuries
