Because the Native Americans wanted peace above all else and feared that with advanced weaponry, the English would soon best them The distribution of wealth throughout the revolution was extremely unbalanced

They used the military for their own gain
The wealthy saw the poor as filthy and stupid; they assumed only the rich and educated could tell them what they wanted
The constitution gave the poor only the bare minimum rights needed to subdue them
The government met protests of the lower class with violence
Where this was not practical it made concessions to the poor that really changed nothing
When the government seized land from Loyalists it gave most of it to the rich
It gave just enough to the poor to create divisions among them; a small middle class
The middle class allowed the rich to have a group who shared their interests and gave them numbers
It also created a buffer between the rich and the poor.
The class system furthered in the americas was simply shifted up by the revolution
It allowed for the oppression of the poor by the upper class to translate into oppression by the poor of the slaves and indians The occupy wall St. Protests are trying to fight the skewed distribution of wealth discussed in this chapter

In that book there is no such thing as a real history, because everything is altered by the state. This chapter really emphasizes the differences between what we are taught in a federally controlled curriculum vs. what was real. You can identify the places where in order to create a national identity and culture, history was censored and altered. New and Growing Poor Oppression from above causes them to oppress all below them Slaves Indians Ousted by the Revolution Question: Why aren’t we as students learning all of this controversial subjects of the revolution? the American army was focused on keeping it to upperclass white men; no slaves or Indians-with them not involved in the war, they created riots causing the militia to focus on that and not the war, un-readying the south.

because the slave population was in range between 20% to 50%,
George Washington made it clear that he did not want the slaves who were seeking freedom to have a right to fight in thier army; but brittish military in Virginia was telling the slaves the opposite.
the Brittish military commander, lord Dunmore, in Virginia told the slaves that if they joined their army, they would then gain their freedom. Of course this created great concern to Washington and their right to bear arms was taken away;
the slave’s right, coming directly from the second amendment in the bill of rights, was being taken away to bare arms.
it brought attention to the fact that “the people” of the “we the people of the united states” did not include the slaves or Indians.
“Richard morris comments: ‘everywhere one finds inequality.’ He finds ‘the people’ of ‘we the people of the united states’ did not mean Indians or blacks or women or white servants…’”-black slaves began to protest against their lack of rights.
Benjamin Banneker, a black man who correctly and scientifically predicted a solar eclipse, reached out to Thomas Jefferson for help.
Jefferson tried to understand the ways of black people having rights, but due to the ways of American society, it was virtually impossible for him. Continental soldiers at Yorktown, after some blacks were allowed into the military
