Has it been used successfully in the past? People have harnessed solar power for centuries. As early as the 7th century B.C. people used simple magnifying glasses to concentrate the light of the sun into beams so hot that it would catch wood on fire. Cost Solar Hot Water System = $2,000-$4,000 Photovoltaic System = $8,000-10,000 Advantages Disadvantages B Saves you money Enviromentally friendly Independent Semi-Independent Low/no maintenance Its a high cost to install a solar energy system Solar Panels require quite a large area for installation to achieve a good level of efficiency Add on Info The Earth recieves an incredible supply of solar energy everyday it could power the world at an estimated 27 years but its all possible if we all convert. To This If Stop gas and coal powered use and convert to solar powered use such the New solar powered Ipod New solar powered Cars and most recently there are going to be developements in the ability to have a solar House.
