Types Of Arrhythmia
An erratic, disorganized firing of impulses from the ventricles. The ventricles quiver and are unable to contract or pump blood to the body. This is a medical emergency that must be treated with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillator as soon as possible.
These can be signs of Arrhythmia:
Family history of unexpected, unexplained sudden death under age 40.
Fainting or seizure during exercise, excitement or startle.
Consistent or unusual chest pain and/or shortness of breath during exercise.
To prevent heart arrhythmia, it's important to live a heart-healthy lifestyle to reduce your risk of heart disease. A healthy lifestyle may include:
Arrhythmia occurs when the heart beats too fast, too slow, or skips a beat.
Abnormal levels of potassium or other substances
Heart attack, or a damaged heart muscle from a past heart attack
Heart disease that is present at birth (congenital)
Heart failure or an enlarged heart
Overactive thyroid gland
A fluttering in your chest
A racing heartbeat
A slow heartbeat
Shortness of breath
Fainting or near fainting
Eating a heart-healthy diet
Increasing your physical activity
Keeping a healthy weight
Limiting or avoiding caffeine and alcohol
Reducing stress, as intense stress and anger can cause heart rhythm problems
Your heart may allow your body to stop functioning and can lead to serious pain.
