It's a quick and free way to be kept up with news from your city/town, or the whole world as many news broadcasters have Twitter.
Many celebrities, companies, Internet celebrities often 'tweet' what they're doing, where they are, what's happening with their life right now, advertise merchandise, etc with Twitter.
Twitter
It's a fast and easy way to keep in touch with people from all over the world through messaging, pictures and posts.
Most well known companies, celebrities, Internet celebrities have fan pages to update fans on what they're doing and to also advertise goods.
Facebook
Facebook was founded in 2006 by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.
By March 31 2012, there were
835 million
users.
An average Facebook visit usually lasts around 20 minutes.
If Facebook were a country, it'd be the third largest in the world.
Instagram
Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in 2010
There are currently 130 million active users.
58 photos are uploaded every second.
More than 16 billion photos have been uploaded

Instagram is almost like an electronic version of a scrapbook which you can keep memories with and then share it with your 'followers'.

Most people you know will probably have some sort of social networking account. Here, we mention three very popular social networking sites for youths as well as adults and also some facts about them.

Of course, there are many 'cons' of using social media such as...

You'll never know how a social networking site can use your personal information.
Privacy isn't always 100% secure on social media.
Revealing too much can lead to potential stalkers.
Spending a lot of time on social media can often lead to Internet addictions.

And these are just a few...
