Joined the Indian Imperial Police in Burma
Volunteered for the Spanish Civil War to fight for theRepublicans against Franco's Nationalist uprising
Achived prominance in late 1940's
Attacked totalitarianism
Best known for his journalism
Most successful titles were Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four
Animal Farm is considered an allegory of the corruption of the socialist ideals of the Russian Revolution by Stalinism
Nineteen Eighty-Four is Orwell's vision of the results of Totalitarianism
Orwell denied Animal Farm was a refrense to Stalinism
