Transcript of Slope
Ordered Pairs: The order of numbers plotted on a graph in x,y order. example: (3,5) The 3 is the x and the 5 is the y.
y2-y1/ x2-x1 is the way to find the slope. Using ordered pairs.
Y-intercept and rise/run
Y-intercept: The value where a straight line crosses the Y axis of a graph. (the b of y=km+b)
Slope is defined as the ratio of the "rise" over "run" between two points on a line.
By:Keshari, Sara, Ziliya
Origin- The point where the x-axis and the y-axis intersect.
(Also known as 0,0)
Linear Line- A straight Line
Proportional Slope and Direct Variation
Proportional Slope or Direct Variation- When who quantities always have the same size in relation to each other.
When graphed, always goes through the origin and always linear.
Does not go through the origin. Can be linear.
Doesn't go through the origin
Rise over Run Examples
Rate Of change
rate of change is a rate that describes how one quantity changes in relation to another quantity.
(Also can be known as Slope)
Rate of change- 40 miles per hour.
4 3 2 1
This table is non proportional because starts out with 6
