Transcript of Glauc C

This increase in production has mainly been seen in a change in 'oil cut' which is a measure of total produced oil and produced total water. Glauc C History 1996 2001 1998 Began horizontal drilling Beau Canada Exploration Ltd.

City of Medicine Hat Enermark bought out Beau Canada Water Flooding Unitized all companies 2012 Seven Batteries Three Batteries Enhanced Oil Recovery: Polymer Flood 2011 Enermark changed to Enerplus Polymer Flooding Polymer is a molecular compound of repeating structural units
Increases viscosity of water
Further improves water flood Polymer Flood At Glauc C Laboratory Tests Viscosity Test By measuring the time it takes for the polymer solution to go through the device, as well as the inlet water, we are able to depict that polymer solution's Screen Factor. Screen Factor Clay Test Test the temperature of injection solution, mother solution, suction and discharge solutions from the pumps
Temperature ultimately effects the viscosity. Temperature Is It Working? Despite the fact of seeing polymer in the produced water to so early, certain wells which communicate directly with polymer injectors acutally have seen oil production increases since the implementation. Here's A Chart Showing Change in Oil Cut in the producers directly effected by the polymer flood Yes 2001 Oil 2012 Oil [4-2-13-5w4] & [3-3-13-5w4] & [7-4-13-5w4] [6-16-13-5w4] & [4-15-13-5w4] [15-7-13-5w4] & [16-7-13-5w4] Total 200 m3/day 40 m3/day 46 m3/day 286 m3/day 312 m3/day 160 m3/day 209 m3/day 681 m3/day 4-2-13-5w4 6-16-13-5w4 15-7-13-5w4 From Silo to Injection Mobility Ratio The reason that water flooding is not always effective is because water's lower viscosity allows it to flow much easier than oil, therefore it often passes right through the oil instead of helping to push it. The purpose of adding polymer to the water is to increase it's viscosity significantly, to form a slug down hole to help push the oil to the producer. where , µ and k are the mobility, viscosity and effective permeability respectively and where the subscripts w and o refer to water and oil. If the mobility ratio is 10 for example, this means that the water is 10 times more mobile than the oil. In our case, our goal is to bring the ratio as close to one as possible, one way of doing this is to increase the viscosity of the water. In order to do this, polymer can be added. Efficiently ensures proper hydration of the polymer
Reduces chance of fish-eyes
Water amount added remains consistent, polymer concentration varies Mother Solution Used to determine if there is any amount of polymer content in the water sample Polymer No-Polymer Tri-plex Injection Pumps Three high pressure pumps 295, 395, & 495. Supply Polymer to 5 different injection wells. We do the screen factor test to simulate how well the polymer will flow through the rock in the reservoir. We test the viscosity to monitor the polymer injection solution and to maintain the proper polymer solution. 25 Micron Filters Calcium Nitrate Pumps Injection Wells 15-20% Mother Solution 75-80% Water There are 3 producers that have seen increases in their cut: 103/3-35, 103/6-2, and 03/8-3 Shoot Fluid Levels Polymer Injection Samples into Pressurized Bombs Testing 14-27 Get the oil cuts off of the Coalescer, F.W.K.O, and Treater Spill using a centrifuge. Oil Well Production Samples New Kids on the Glauc Monitor each well's production on this satellite
Maintain fluid levels, check cuts
Record H2S concentrations and gas volumes How it improves water flood Check injection numbers daily and ensure flow rates remain at target. Record wellhead pressures. Sand Filters Thank You!
