Johnny Appleseed Timeline
Johnny Appleseed was born in 1774. His mother and brother died in 1775. His father left to fight in the revolutionary war in 1776.
Johnny's father remarried and moved the family to Massachusetts in 1780. This is where he grew up and attended pioneer school.
Johnny started hiking west, barefoot in 1797. He lived off the land and planted his first orchard in Pennsylvania in 1798. He continued moving west and planted another orchard in Ohio in 1801. Johnny's father and the rest of his family settled in Marietta, Ohio in 1805.
Johnny Appleseed's father died in 1807. He continued hiking, barefoot most times and purchased his first plot of land in Mount Vernon, Ohio in 1809. In 1813, Johnny warned settlers of a suspected attack by Native Americans. He continued west and planted his first orchard in Indiana in 1830. Johnny passed away of pneumonia March 18,1845.
