THE GOVERNMENT Abortion Liberal vs.
Conservative CONSERVATIVE VIEW ON ABORTION Since 1973, over 53 million
abortions have been performed
in the United States The number of American
babies killed by abortion
each year is equal to the
number of U.S. military
deaths that have occurred
in all the wars the U.S. has
ever been involved in
COMBINED Approximately 3,000 Americans lost their lives as a result of the World Trade Center tragedy on September 11, 2001. More than 3,000 American babies are killed by abortion, each day. Life begins
at conception Abortion is
the murder
of a human
life Because the unborn baby
is a living human being,
it has separate, individual rights
from that of the mother. Oppose
taxpayer-funded
abortions. Government money goes towards funding a program called Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood offers a variety of services including abortions. According to factcheck.com, approximately 1 in 10 clients at Planned Parenthood received an abortion. 4 WEEKS

can be born anywhere
between 38-42 weeks Abortion is the
termination of a
pregnancy through the
death of an
embryo or fetus. (Webster's Medical Dictionary) 93% of all abortions
are performed on
healthy mothers with
healthy babies Less
than 1%
of abortions
are performed
because of rape or incest Eagle's Egg
Debate It is illegal to destroy an Eagle's egg
Punishment is up to $5,000 and 3 years in prison
No matter what side you are on (liberal or conservative) you would agree that laws to protect endangered animals are a good thing Liberals argue that an eagle
is an endangered species,
therefore it must be protected. An endangered member
of a species is lying inside
an Eagle's egg. Is not
a life more valuable lying
inside of a mother? Conservatives counter this by saying
that each life is unique. No one can
predetermine if this child would become
an inventor, composer, scientist, or next leader. There use to be more inventors, composers, scientists, and leaders in the world. Today, they make up only a small portion of the population.
Would that not make them at risk of becoming an endangered species? ENDANGERED SPECIES:
anyone or anything who's continued existence is threatened (Webster's Dictionary) If you find an abandoned egg,
no matter the state of it or what is best
for the eagle, you cannot destroy the egg.
The penalty is up to $5,000
and 3 years in prison. However, if you find yourself pregnant
and do not want the baby, you can pay
the doctor a little over $750 to destroy the fetus.

No reasons needed and questions asked Eagle Egg vs. Human Fetus
Winner: Eagle Egg 88% 6.7% first 12 weeks 12-16 weeks 3.5% 16-20 weeks Beyond 20 weeks 1.1% Liberal View on Abortion If you are a Liberal, you believe that a woman has the right to decide what happens with her body. A fetus is not a human life, so it does not have separate individual rights. Half of the 1.2 million US
women having an abortion
are over 25 17% are teens 60% of people having an abortion have had at least one child prior to the abortion 83% are
unmarried If you begin to ban abortion in the third trimester, that opens the door for the government to start banning it in the second and even first trimester. Number of abortions per day: Approximately 3,700 52% of women obtaining abortions in the U.S. are younger than 25 That is 1,924 women who are just finishing school or are still in school. They have no money for a child, and would most likely not have the stability to care for that child. Women 25 years and younger are just finishing school or are still in school. They have no money for a child, and would most likely not have the stability to care for that child. That is 1,924 women 385 of those women are teenage girls & 23 girls under the age of 15 every day At that age would you be able to mother or father a child? 1,602 women who get an abortion have a family of $15,000 or less Doctor bills alone cost roughly $5,000 1% of women who get an abortion is because of rape 6% of abortions are due to health conditions of the mother or child 37 women everyday get an abortion because they were forced to have sex with someone Could you look at that baby every day and think of what that man did to you? What if the child had a fatal deformity? What if the mother was going to die? Every day, there are 222 women who get an abortion because of health risks In comparison to other countries, how are we different? The government does not tell us where we can live, what job we get, or who we marry. How come they should be able to tell us what we can do with our bodies? Planned Parenthood receives federal aid, but it is not only for abortion. It offers services to women all over for cancer, counseling, contraception, test and treatment for STD's, pregnancy tests, and many other services. Although many people are against federal dollars going towards abortion programs, it is not necessarily for that service alone. It is a very beneficial and yet necessary program. So what happens if the government makes abortions illegal? If abortion is prohibited, other forms will be taken into effect. Much like the prohibition, abortion is not going to end. It would only cause more crime and unsafe circumstances. Would they arrest every woman who gets an abortion? How do they regulate what is okay and what is not okay? How would they monitor this, and with what money? Approximately 25% of the world lives in counties with very restrictive abortion laws
(Africa, Asia, Latin America) What happened to separation of church and state? Nearly 1/2 of all American pregnancies are unintended 4 of 10 of these are ended by abortions This means 22% of all pregnancies end in an abortion Unsafe Abortions In 2005, 1.21 million abortions were performed This number was down from 1.31 million in 2000 Every year, worldwide, about 42 million women with unintended pregnancies choose abortion, and nearly half of these procedures, 20 million, are unsafe. Some 68,000 women die of unsafe abortion annually, making it one of the leading causes of maternal mortality Of the women who survive unsafe abortion, 5 million will suffer long-term health complications. drinking toxic fluids such as turpentine, bleach, or drinkable concoctions mixed with livestock manure inflicting direct injury to the vagina or elsewhere—for example, inserting herbal preparations into the vagina or cervix; placing a foreign body such as a twig, coat hanger, or chicken bone into the uterus; or placing inappropriate medication into the vagina or rectum unskilled providers also improperly perform dilation and curettage in unhygienic settings, causing uterine perforations and infections external injury are also used, such as jumping from the top of stairs or a roof, or inflicting blunt trauma to the abdomen At least half of American women will face an untended pregnancy by age 45 At the current rate, 1 in 3 of these women will have an abortion METHODS OF UNSAFE ABORTIONS: Shouldn't we also take a stand to protect our babies? 43% of women having an abortion identify themselves as Protestant 27% as Catholic 13% as Evangelical or born-again Christians Liberals are not happy about the decision about Partial Birth because it began eliminating abortion, liberals believe that it will lead to other banning of methods of abortion, which would be a women's right, not a government law. WHY
PEOPLE
ABORT? What do Americans think? 3/4 of women say they have responsibilities to others

3/4 say that having a baby will interfere with school or work

1/2 say they do not want to be a single parent or are experiencing relationship problems

Many express the concern of their lack of money 66% of these women
plan to have children when
they are older, financially
stable, and have a
supportive partner WHY? 93% of abortions occur for social reasons.
6% for potential health problems to mother or child.
1% because of rape or incest. WHAT? Complications of an abortion can include hemorrhage, cardiac arrest, endotoxic shock, infection, uterine rupture, infertility, and death.

Mental and emotional problems also often occur. What about women with children already? Do they take away the mother and put the kids in foster care? METHODS According to the Department of Health and Human Service’s website, "by law, Title X funds may not be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning." Medicaid funding is restricted by the Hyde Amendment to only abortion cases involving rape, incest or endangerment to the life of the mother. SUCTION ASPIRATION
Most common way during first 12 weeks
The mother is given anesthesia
A suction curette is inserted into the womb
It is connected to a vacuum machine by a transparent tube (This vacuum is 29 times more powerful than a household vacuum)
The fetus and placenta is torn into small pieces, sucked out, and discarded Dilation and Curettage
Similar to suction except an added knife shaped hook is inserted which cuts the baby to pieces
The pieces are scraped out through the cervix Dilation and Evacuation
Can be used up to 18 weeks
Pair of forceps is inserted into womb to grasp parts of fetus
The teeth of the forceps are used to twist the baby apart
This is continued until the fetus is dismembered and removed
Usually the spine is snapped and the skull is crushed to remove the fetus SALT POISONING
Used after 16 weeks
A long needle injects a salt solution through mother's abdomen into amniotic sac
The baby swallows the solution and is poisoned
The outer layer of baby's skin is often burnt off because the solution is corrosive
About 1 hour later the baby dies
Normally within 24 hours, the mother will go into labor and give birth to a dead baby PARTIAL BIRTH
The abortionist uses an ultrasound to grab the baby's leg with forceps
The leg is pulled out of the birth canal
The entire baby is delivered except for the head
Scissors are jammed into the baby's head, and then opened to enlarge the skull
The scissors are removed and the baby's brains are sucked out which causes the skull to collapse
The dead baby is then removed. A person can be pronounced legally dead when they have no brain activity. At 3 weeks a child begins to develop a brain and shortly after activity begins to occur. In the United States there are 2 million infertile couples waiting to adopt. They will take a child regardless of their gender or if they have a disability. Instead of a baby going to these families, they are killed by an abortion. more
mothers
choose
abortion
than
adoption. what Americans think according to Minnesota Public Radio The penalty for murder in the United States is either imprisonment (long term or life) or the death penalty Since abortion is the murder of a baby, should the punishment not be equivalent? The abortionist should face harsher punishments than that of the mother. So why don't liberals want abortions illegal? In the end it all depends on.. YOU .Too Young
