Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, but can be grouped into 3 basic types Ectomorph Narrow shoulders
Characterised by Thinness ENDOMORPH Wide hips
Characterised by Fatness MESOMORPH Wide shoulders
Characterised by Muscularity SOMATOTYPES IN SPORT Certain body types are suited to certain sports.

Tear up your A4 paper into 10 pieces.
Write down 10 sports performers on
Put the sports performers into one of the 3
body type circles. Can you fit them all??
Working with your partner put yours and theirs into the circles, do you both agree? Task
Match the sports person to the correct somatotypes ALL: Describe the different body types. (somatotypes) Grade C.
MOST: Explain the effect each can have on performance and participation
SOME: Identify activities where different body types are an advantage. Explain how their somatotype gives them an advantage in their sport. (6 marks) Self assess your answer out of 6 marks.
