Female Archetypes: Heroine, Temptress and Damsel.
Female Heroine
A woman of distinguished courage or ability, admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities.

Examples from Film/Book
• Hermione Granger
• Katniss Everdeen

Examples in History
• Amelia Earhart: was the first woman to fly over the Atlantic Ocean, solo.
• Rosa Parks: She took a stand and refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white man.

Damsel in Distress
A character, usually female and nubile, is portrayed as helpless and in danger in order to put the cast in motion. In particular, the cast is unified, putting aside differences in pursuit of the rescue.

Fairy Tale example: Stories like "Sleeping Beauty", "Bluebeard", "Rapunzel", "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Snow White" are often this, because the heroines are actually not in a position to do anything when their rescuers arrive... other than stay in their comatose state.
Anti Damsel in Distress
Definiton:a woman who tempts someone to do something, typically a sexually attractive woman who sets out to allure or seduce someone.
Temptress example:
Sirens in Greek mythology. Sirens were women with wings who's song lured many sailors to their deaths.
