Since I was born I was always raised Lutheran. My mom's side of the family is a very Norwegian Lutheran. Many of the religions traditions I have I learned from my family.
-Pilgrim Lutheran Church
Ever since my mom moved to St. Paul she has attended Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She originally came because she knew Pastor Carol, but she stayed because of how welcoming she felt the church was.
For elementary and middle school I attended St. Thomas More Catholic School. My mom wanted me to attend St .Thomas More for multiple reasons. One reason is that she wanted me to get the best education I could. The second was that she really wanted me to attend a school where I could celebrate holidays like Christmas and Easter. The principle was also very welcoming and said that there would be no concerns of having my sister and I attend even though we were not Catholic.
Middle school for me was one of the most formative times for me in my faith. During this time many of my classmates began to loose touch in their faith. This made me look into my faith deeper and see how I truly felt of my faith. During this time I also began coming to DFTBA at Pilgrim. These Wednesday meetings as well as Sunday meetings helped me gain a broader understating of the my faith.
My first year of high school has been different than my past education. There are many new faces as well as cultures that I has not personally encountered before. This has helped me gain a better understanding of other peoples faith as well as my own. This year's scripture theme at Pilgrim has really gone hand in hand with my experiences at school.
The theme of "taking up ones cross" at Pilgrim has really effected me for the better at high school. The different things I have learned at DFTBA and Sunday meeting have helped me gain a better understanding of my faith in these new situations. The ideas of understanding others and taking up ones cross have also helped me form my faith in the past year. Every time I am at Pilgrim, I feel like I am in a place where I can be open and learn new things about my faith.
