I needed some new shoes, for my others were worn out.
I stopped at the bank, and I got some cash from the ATM.
I did not like what I saw at Target, nor did I like the selection at Walmart.
I tried on many pairs, but I couldn't find any I liked.
I had to buy something, or I would be stuck wearing my old, yucky shoes.
I didn't want to go home without new shoes, yet I just couldn't find the right pair.
I never found any I liked, so I "borrowed" my sister's shoes when she wasn't looking!
Fanboys are called CONJUNCTIONS
Writers choose the conjunction that
will coordinate best with the sentence.
When you write a compound sentence be sure to place a COMMA
before the coordinating conjunction.

sentence.
WAIT!!
There is another way to connect two independent clauses.
Instead of a comma + FANBOYS, you could use just a semicolon!
The semicolon has the power of a comma and period combined!
The period shows the end of one sentence,
and the comma shows the connection of
another sentence. No FANBOYS word is needed.

You can combine two independent
clauses by using a comma + FANBOYS, or
you can connect the two sentences with
just a semicolon.

I love to eat pizza, but I love
ice cream even more.

I love to eat pizza; I love ice
cream even more.
