The Middle Colonies
Pennsylvania got their name from a man named William Penn. Then "sylvania" is Latin meaning woods or woodland. Therefore, Pennsylvania means Penn's wood.
William Penn and the Quakers are responsible for founding the colony of Pennsylvania
It had a common wealth kind of government with established representatives. It is also reportedly known as being the first democracy in America.
The religion was also similar to that of New York with not one dominating, but rather religious freedom and tolerance of all religions.
New Jersey got their name from an island in the English channel named Jersey.
Received it's name by edict, not by choice. Cecil Calvert the 2nd Lord Baltimore received a charter from Charles I of England for this new colony. However, there was a catch, the colony had to be named after Charles's wife: Queen Henrietta. (She went by Queen Mary)
The colony of New York was founded in 1626 by the Duke of York and other colonists of Manhattan Island.
New York was originally called New Amsterdam when the Dutch had possession of it. Then the British took over and it received it's current name to honor King Charles II's brother, Duke of York and Albany.
It was not dominated by one specific religion which gave way to religious freedom for Quakers, Catholics, Lutherans, Jews, and others.
Founded for trade and profits.
Flax and hemp farms were established in the Middle Colonies furthering the Textile Industry.

Delaware got it's name from the Delaware indians are named after the Delaware River. The Delaware River is in turn named after Sir Thomas West Lord De La Warr.

Delaware was the first of the original 13 colonies to become a state on December 7, 1787.

Thus giving freedom for Baptist Catholics and Angelicans.
Founded for religious freedom, especially for Catholics.
Crops were traded for things that could not be produced on plantations like shoe laces, thread, farm tools, and dishes.
