Now you know all about the three biggest Monotheistic religions. There are plenty more. There are even religions not part of the group Monotheism. How many can you think of. :)
Jews believe in the inherit godness of the world and do not require a savior (Jesus) to save them from their sins.
The Beginning
The Islam religion began around 610 A.D in Southwest Asia. The followers of this religion are called Muslims. The Muslims read out of a holy book they call Koran.
The Muslims believe that Muhammad is the last and greatest prophet of the Islam Koran. That even includes Abraham and Jesus. The Islam religion is a main religion of the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia.
Groups and Followers
The Muslim followers are rapidly growing. They seem to be growing faster than the other two Monotheism religions. Now there are about 1.3 billion followers world wide. The two largest groups of Muslims are, Sunnis and Shiites. The Sunnis group is taking up about 90% of all Muslims. They gather on Fridays to worship Allah
The followers of Jesus are Christians. The Christian religion is practiced in most parts of the world. They read out of a holy book called the Bible. The stories of Jesus became the new testament. They attend a church every Sunday to worship.
The Beginning
A Jew named Jesus began preaching in what is today Isreal. Some Jews greeted him as a messiah (savior) who would save them from roman persecution. Others didn't believe what he was teaching.
Christian beliefs are based on the teachings of Jesus. These beliefs are:
love of god
a regard for justice
a belief that Jesus is the son of God
Christmas- Jesus's Birthday
Good Friday- day Jesus was crucified
Easter- most important day of the Christian calender, It is believed to be the day that Jesus rose from the dead.
Main Duties of a Muslim
Giving to Charity
Belief in submission to one god (Allah)
Fasting during the month of Ramadan
A trip to Mecca at least one in a lifetime
The Beginning
Judaism was first practiced in Southwest Asia called the Brealites. It was first founded by a young man named Abraham around 200 B.C.
Jews worship in temples. Jews Believe in one creator. They call them their Yahweh. They read out of a holy scroll they call the Torah. It is full of all Yahweh's great stories.
In many areas Jews were treated poorly. Over the centuries, the Jews would be conquered and be forced to leave their homeland many times. The Jews eventually spread across countries all over the world. The European Jews were wiped out because of the Nazis and Hitler.
