Strategies for Finding and Keeping a Job during Economic Hardships
With today's economy like it is, many individuals are fighting to keep their jobs. And with unemploment at an extremely high rate, it's also very difficult to find work as well.
People are facing what they call the Job Market Blues. "It's a malady affecting millions of Americans during a weak job market caused by a struggling economy. Symptoms include high levels of anxiety, fear, and depression related to keeping one's current job or finding a new job, tied to the ability to pay one's bills and maitain a place to live and food to eat."
Stop right there!!! Don't let
the economic hard times get
you down! There's lots you can
do, in helping your sitution!
Strategies for keeping your job:
Make yourself stand out over your peers.
Find a way for you to shine within the company.
Ask questions about the company and the current situation they are facing. This will show upper management that you are interested in helping the company get through these tough times.
Stop wasting valuable office hours; curb your working activites.
Take shorter lunch breaks.
Quit smoking; or at least while your on the clock.
Stop gossiping around the water cooler.
Avoid long converstations gathered around in the break room.
Keep your personal life at home.
Work is not a place to be goofing around. Obeying some of these sugguestions could very well be keeping your off the chopping block when times get tough.

They are also struggling to find work as well.
As tough as it may be
keeping your job, finding a
job can be even harder.....
Strategies for Finding a Job during hard Economic Times:
Update your current resume; add any new qualifactions, or just spruce it up a bit.
Make cold calls to companies; ask to speak with the hiring manager, introduce yourself, let them know you've done research on their company.
Go back to school; get more training.
Hit the pavement. Instead of sending out your resume on Internet Job sites, take your resume door to door.
People enjoy being able to talk to someone face to face.
Times may be hard for you now, but you're not alone in this situation.
There are a number of
great opportunities out there
for you; you just need to use the
time to find which one is best for you!
