How A Bill Becomes Law A The people approach their congressman/woman with an idea for a law they want passed Then the bill gets presented to congress and goes into committee. And they debate over it Then it goes to a vote Then it goes to the other house Once it passes both houses, it goes to the President who can either accept or veto it If the president vetoes it, then congress can override it with a two-thirds vote Then it's a law
