Electrical energy
Chemical energy
Energy involved in the bond formed between two atoms. Each bond within a chemical compounds involves different amounts of energy.
The human body- Balancing the energy equation.
What form of energy can you find in a human body?
The law of conservation of energy
A simply action such as reaching up and touching your shoulder with that stored potential energy, kinetic energy of your arm moving.
Feeling warmness when you touch other parts of your body potential energy converts constant internal temperature.



States that the total amount of energy in a system remains constant ("is conserved"), although energy within the system can be changed from one form to another or transferred from one object to another. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be transformed.
Mechanical energy
Mechanical energy is the sum of potential energy and kinetic energy. Mechanical energy is due to the motion and position of an object or objects in a system. For example a bicycle moves in a motion.
Electrical energy is energy newly derived from electrical potential energy. What other devices that you use today make use of electrical energy?
Kinetic energy and gravitational potential energy are converted into each other as the ball rises and falls.
Energy transformations also occur during projectile motion when an object moves in a curved path.
Effect of friction
Friction and air resistance cause some of the mechanical energy of the swing to change the thermal energy. The mechanical energy is not destroyed because with every pass of the swing the temperature of the hooks and the air increase.
Converting mass to energy
During nuclear fusion a small amount of mass is transformed int a large amount of energy.
Nuclear Fission
Example: the sun releasing light and warmth to the Earth.
nuclear fusion is a nuclear reaction in which two or more atomic nuclei collide at a very high speed and join to form a new type of atomic nucleus. During this process, matter is not conserved because some of the matter of the fusing nuclei is converted to photons (energy)
Food Energy.
Every time you eat your body breaks up the food into molecules. that is used for fueling your body.
Your body needs the chemical potential to function.

Examples of electrical energy
Lightbulbs are an example of transferring electrical energy. The warmth you feel around the bulb is evidence that electrical energy is transformed into thermal energy.
Examples of electrical energy
90% of the US population has a cell phone. Batteries in a cell phone supply chemical energy to electric charges. The electric charges use the energy to be put into motion. This electrical energy now travels through the phone supplying the phone with electricity.
Examples of transforming chemical energy.
Fuel stores energy in the form of chemical potential energy. A car is an example. The engine transforms the chemical potential energy stored in gasoline molecules into the kinetic energy of moving a car.
How many calories are used in a hour?

We have fires in this town all the time. When we store the dry wood it stores chemical energy. This chemical energy is released as the wood burns, and it is converted into heat, which is also called thermal energy, and light energy. As a result of burning, the wood turns into ashes.

Energy conversion in your body.
Chemical and physical processes going on in your body. Obey the law of conservation. your body store energy in your fat. Potential energy is used to fuel your body. its a process that keeps you alive. It is what makes your heart beat.
