What is a computer?
A computer is an electronic device that stores and processes data (information).
What can you do with a computer?
Word Processing:
producing, storing, and manipulating of text

A report used to communicate ideas usually in the form of slides

computer's brain or heart

The hard disk is the computer's main, long term storage device
The sound card is an expansion card that allows the computer to send audio information to an audio device like speakers or a pair of headphones.

Applications help you accomplish a certain task, like write a letter, browse the internet or play a game; ex. Microsoft Office



VIDEO CARD
The video card is an expansion card that allows the computer to send graphical information to a video display device such as a monitor, TV, or projector.

LCD Liquid Crystal Display): Flatscreen

Named for the top row of letter keys in order, it's the most common.

Computer's main memory, which is used to process information, (ex working with a file or editing picture)
Read-Only Memory
This is a low level memory and performs functions such as turning on the computer
Very fast storage. A quick way to access your information. Also an inexpensive way to store data.
Convenient storage. Placed into a USB port on the exterior of your computer

- Computer Hardware is the physical part of the computer system, the machinery and equipment.

Computer Devices that input information in the computer, examples:
- Key Board
- Mouse

Computer Output Devices
It is the main circuit board inside the CPU case. It holds the microprocessor, memory and other crucial circuits and components that control the operation of the Personal Computer. Every device inside or connected to a Personal Computer finds it's way to this board.
