About
•Valencia Bioparc is of a new generation, created by the concept of zoo-immersion - immersing the visitor in wild habitats

•Zoo immersion uses vegetation, landscape and hidden barriers to create an open and natural feel, as if you are with the animals. The vegetation is chosen carefully to imitate the animal's natural habitat

•Valencia Bioparc is also dedicated to conservation and educating the public on how they can protect many natural ecosystems. The Bioparc foundation observes the population of species and once below an acceptable minimum threshold, alerts the IUCN (International Union Conservation Nature) and protects the species' habitat. THis is because they have the philosophy of preserving a species' habitat is the best way the preserve the species.

•It participates in many captive breeding programmes for species who are endangered or nearly extinct

•Valencia Biopark has an on-site cinema that screens films educating people about the animals and their habitats

•It is also commited to the environment. It has a sustainable design with state-of-the-art facilities that save much energy and water. I has 5 purifying plants for recycling the water flowing in rivers, waterfalls, lakes and other wetlands. It is important to be sustainable as this park uses a lot of energy and water in its animals habitats.

•Two teams of highly qualified workers look after the animals by ensuring their natural behaviour and the good health of the animals. Everything is kept as natural as possible for the animals.

Quick Facts
Valencian
•Like many other areas in Spain, Valencia has its own language
•Although very similar to Castillian (that we learn), there are subtle but important differences.
The first bullfight in Spain was in 1761
Bulls are colourblind, thus don't react to the red cape. They just react to large moving objects. Bulls are specially trained to attack the matador.
If the EU try to ban bullfighting, Spain will leave the EU
Bullfighting originated in gladiatorial Ancient Rome
Matadors earn similar wages as other top sportsmen
Bullfighting is not just a Spanish tradition; Portugal, Latin America and a few cities in southern France also have a history of bullfighting
•90% of the people in Valencia speak Valencian
•Valencian is a type of Castillian, in a way.
Información General
Bullfighting isn't a sport, it is just entertainment
It happens in most Spanish speaking countries
This shows David Fandila's worst bullfight...
What happens in a bullfight?
For most of 20th Century
Now
Area:134.6km² (Manchester: 115.4km²)
Population:2.5million (Manchester: 2.2million)
Temperature in Summer:30-40°C
Capital of Valencia Province
Coastal City
Language: Valencian
In Bullfighting, people usually go to see 6 separate fights, each lasting 15-20 minutes.
There are 3 stages in a bullfight.
In 'la entrada', there is a parade of everybody asssociated with the bullfight, all dressed in 'traje de luces'. The judges then receive a key to the gate, thrown to them by the president, to let the bulls out. The president waves a white handkerchief to signal each bull to come out.
A trumpet is blown to announce the beginning and end of a stage.
Stage 1: Tercio de Varas - This third includes the matador and the picadors. In this round, the matador notices how the bull charges at him by waving the cape in different ways and speeds. The picadors have to try and stab the bull's neck, usually no more than 3 times. This is to weaken its charge, making the bull less dangerous.
Stage 2: Tercio de banderilleros - The 2nd third includes the banderilleros only. The banderilleros have to try and stab the bull's shoulders which is very difficult. this is where the bull gets his power from. they have 5-6 banderillas between themselves to do so.
Stage 3: Tercio de muerte - The final third inculdes just the matador and the bull. The matador will impress the audience by performing some taunting movements with his cape. He is given a sword in this round. This is when the 'olés' happen the most. The matador eventually kills the bull.
Bullfighting is just a ritual that has a sacrifice - the bull.
The best bullfighter in the world currently is David Fandila or "El Fandi"
