Transcript of George Rodrigue
George is best know for his Blue Dog Series.
He began painting the Blue Dog in the 1990s.
The dog is from a Cajun legend (folk tale) of the "Loup Garou" that says that if you're not good during the day, the dog is going to get you at night!
Bright colors and simple images: Pop Art
The Blue Dog has inspired numerous books!
He began painting while in the 3rd grade (while bedridden with Polio for a whole summer).
Cajun artist, who lived and worked in New Orleans!
Inspired by his Cajun roots, his childhood, and the Louisiana landscape.
We will create our own Blue Dog's inspired by the artist, George Rodrigue
We will use oil pastels.
