THE WHAT
What is IEP?
THE WHERE
A student in IEP will be taught in an inclusion setting. Meaning that a student will be in a classroom with other students who are not in IEP and with teachers who are making adaptations for all students to learn as much as possible. These students will also be in small groups with their special education teachers who are focus on their special needs.
The When
A student in IEP will be able to receive the benefits of the program until they graduate high school. However, by the age of 16 a transition plan needs to be put in place. Transition Services are services that provide activities on behalf of the student with the disability that promote an outcome-oriented process of supports from school to post-secondary activities that include further schooling, vocational training, and integrated employment.
The Individualized Educational Program is in place to help students who have a wide range of learning disabilities. Teachers, professionals and a student's family are all very important to the success of a child's learning. As a team we have one goal, to help a child learn with their disability and how to be successful in their own special way! As a team we want the absolute best for all of our students who have a disability.
