Born: Febuary 15th, 1861 in Gainsborough , Lincolnshire, England
Died: March 6th, 1946
Stalin wanted the area for its resources and strategic position
Hitler tried to gain control because of its importance
Heartland Theory
He went to Epsom College boarding school in 1874 - 1880

From 1880 to 1883 he studied animal morphology and his fourth year he was elected a research scholarship in geology

1885 he moved to London to study law. He wrote his famous paper "The Scopes and Methods of Geography" in 1887.
