Conclusion/Discussion

After discussing, we concluded from our results that species diversity decreases from sea to land and density changes with substrate conditions.

We have two methods of counting our plant, they are:

Diversity
Density

Diversity
We counted a meter by a meter with our measuring tape, and we observed the study area and noted down our findings.
Density
We used a quadrant for Density. We put the quadrant on the floor, and counted organisms within a square. This was very tricky as some animals moved very fast from one square to another.
Materials
The materials used were :

1. Data Logger
2.pH sensor
3.Quadrant
4.Temperature Sensor
5. Measuring Tape
6. Pegs


We used a Temperature sensor to measure the ambient temperature and the substrate temperature of a sandbar.Then, we used a pH sensor to measure the pH level of sea water and brackish water. We also used a temperature sensor to measure the temperature and a light sensor to measure the amount of "LUX" present.

On 21stJanuary/2014,we went to Pasir Ris Park to do some experiments.The experiments included:
-Diversity
-Density
-pH level of seawater and brackish water
-Ambient temperature and substrate temperature

Pasir Ris Park is a beach park located in the eastern part of Singapore that opened in 1989.It occupies 71 hectares of land,including some reclaimed land.This coastal park is among the largest in Singapore.The full length of the park is around 6.6 kilometres.
