Life Information
Jennifer Lawrence on Streep
[on meeting/being wowed by acting idols] Once I'm obsessed with somebody, I'm terrified of them instantly. I'm not scared of them-I'm scared of me and how I will react. Like, for instance, one time someone was introducing me to Bill Maher, and I saw Meryl Streep walk into the room, and I literally put my hand right in Bill Maher's face and said, 'Not now, Bill!,' and I just stared at Meryl Streep.
[when asked if she met Meryl Streep] Of course not. I just creepily stared at her.
Some of Her Roles
She auditioned for the role of Bella Swan in the film Twilight
She plays the famous character Katniss Everdeen from the movie series The Hunger Games
Fun Facts
Role Models
What Is a Role Model?
Jennifer as a Role Model
role model
1. someone who another person admires and tries to be like

Jennifer is a major supporter of teen girls and them keeping a positive body image!
In many interviews she has stated that she is considered an overweight actress, and supports girls to be healthy too. She recognizes that girls look at media to see what they should look like when they get older, which is why she doesn't think it's safe to try to become extremely small like many other performers.
Jennifer Lawrence also plays the character Katniss Everdeen, who is a role model herself. By Jennifer playing this role, it has made her a role model for many other people not just girls. Lawrence shows her true strength and commitment in this role. This character steps up and wins a survival competition when all odds were against her - unlike the popular beginning to the competition "May the odds be ever in your favour"
Jennifer's Role Model
In an interview Jennifer mentioned how much she liked Meryl Streep. This could be because Meryl Streep is definitely one of the most accomplished actresses of today's time! Jennifer likely looks up to Streep not only because of her performances, but also because of how well she composes herself in media.
Jennifer Lawrence has not officially stated who her role model is, but has mentioned who she's obsessed with.
She graduated high school early to begin acting.
She plays guitar!
She won many awards from her lead role in the movie Silver Linings Playbook including a Golden Globe for Best Actress
She loves the Black Keys!
Jennifer as a Role Model: The Hunger Games
For a strong female role model like Jennifer Lawrence, it makes perfect sense that she play a character of a strong female!
She openly discusses her "weight" and explains that how for the Hunger Games movie she ate healthy and got a workout from the job! She hopes girls will do something like this instead of the many unhealthy ways that are around.
Jennifer as a Role Model: Silver Linings Playbook
Why Choose Her?
She played the lead role in the film Silver Linings Playbook
Jennifer Lawrence began her career playing in Indie movies, but then transitioned into big films!
She had the lead role in the scary movie The House at the End of the Street
In the film Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence plays the role of a girl who has Bipolar Disorder. Through this process she began speaking about the stigma behind mental illness, and how it should not exist. This can be seen in the beginning of her Oscar Speech, 2013.
In this video she speaks about being a role model. It is of audio clips from interviews with her.
She thinks models can't be role models for girls because "they're paid to be coat hangers!"
Jennifer on Being a Role Model
Why She Stands Out
She is one of the few actresses who are open about their weight, or any of their imperfections which is KEY in media today. It's important for girls to have someone they can truly have reason to look up to. Jennifer shows caring about girls having a positive body image, as well as shows caring into finding awareness and acceptance of mental illness which is another reason she stands out! Mental illness is a publicly growing issue that needs to be addressed and Jennifer is doing that!
Why I Look Up to Her
As I have mentioned in one of my journals, I have dealt with self-esteem and body image issues. I am inspired by Jennifer Lawrence because she accepts the fact that she is not a size 0, and I hope to be like that someday!
Also, the performer in my looks up to her because of her versatility in the acting she does. She can play so many different characters which is also inspiring!
How She Can Help My Leadership Skills
As mentioned before, I hope to accept my body shape like Jennifer does. When I fully accomplish this, I would like to do for girls as she did for me, and provide someone to look up to. I would like to help lead girls to feeling better about themselves, because I know first hand what it's like to not.
Also, Jennifer standing up for what she believes in with Mental Illness inspires me to speak up for what I believe in. I hope to develop the leadership skills that she has that allow her to speak her mind to help others.
I wanted to include some funny videos of Jennifer that show some celebrities that look up to her, or she looks up to!Also just some of my favourite Lawrence quotes!
She also is the actress in one of my favourite book series, and also she's in the upcoming X-Men which is also another favourite!
Jack Nicholson
This video is of Jack Nicholson interrupting an interview after Jennifer Lawrence received her Oscar. I completely understand her reaction to JACK NICHOLSON telling her she's great!
Jeff Bridges
Another one of Lawrence's "obsessions" is Jeff Bridges. She interrupts his interview in this video!
Golden Globe Speech
This was Jennifer Lawrence's acceptance speech at the Golden Globes. This is where it seems as though she is being rude to Meryl Streep, but really she is making a "The First Wives Club" reference
I also just love her sense of humor in any interview!
Oscars 2013
I really respect the fact that Jennifer Lawrence talks about food before what she's wearing. (Not many female actresses would do even admit that she eats)
Karen Elson
Elson said “I think Jennifer Lawrence is a brilliant role model for young girls, not some of the models that I see on the runway.”
