Penelope by Robi draco rosa Monograph By:Ernesto J. Calderón López The song Penelope by the song writer Robi Draco Rosa is one of my favorite songs. But past the song and the lyrics there's a story behind this song. This story is the greek mythology of Homer's Odyssey. Penelope is the faithful wife of Odysseus to make the story short Odysseus goes of to fight in the Trojan war, Penelope waits for her husband twenty years. When Odysseus returns he returns disguised as an old beggar (homeless) he finds that Penelope has remained faithful. The thing was that Penelope had some tricks to keep men away from her, one of them was she was pretending to weave a burial cape for Odysseus's elderly father Laertes and claiming that she will choose a man when she has finished. Every night for three years, she undoes part of the cape, until Melantho, one of twelve unfaithful serving women, discovers her trick and reveals it to the men that were waiting .Because of her efforts to put off remarriage, Penelope is often seen as a symbol of connubial fidelity. The song in spanish The song in english
I wake up in the morning
dreaming I don't know what
Breakfast with rain and I remember you in the coffee.
I dreamed your figure far
waiting in the suburbs of oblivion (Penelope)
and I was alone, sailing in gold boats filled with gifts for you
and then I saw the sea jealous of my torments,
swallowed the ship,
and that crazy man was me
...and everything wrecked.
So far you,
so far myself,
the debris of my life slip by the rain
reminding me of Penelope. Me despierto en el alba
soñando no sé qué
desayuno con lluvia
y te recuerdo en el café.

Soñé tu figura lejos,
esperando en los suburbios del olvido (Penélope)
y me vi solo,

recordando a Penélope. In the song the writer sings in first person as Odysseus, he wanted to let us see how much Odysseus missed Penelope during his journey. Describing how the distances is his worst enemy, and how the years pass and his memory of Penelope is still clear in his head. In my point of view its a great song there has been many songs about Penelope but for me this one is the best. And this was my monograph I hope you liked my presentation on this song. Thanks for your attention.
