What the students thought !
Impact on teaching
Immediate impact on student motivation ~ therefore students were fully engaged.
Assessment results ~
of group A passed their anatomy and physiology (paper 1) exam 1st time ~ they used the ipads for revision.
Anatomy and physiology paper 2 was taken 4 weeks later ~the ipads were not used and only
of the group passed first time.
Using iPads in the classroom to promote interactive learning
Student were asked how the use of ipads effected their interest in their chosen subject ~ 82% said they found it much more interesting.
91% Would rather use an ipad to research than read a text book.

Use subject related apps to research or support theory knowledge
Creating videos/story boards for assessment purposes ~ creating Podcasts and commenting & peer assessing via forums/blogs.
The use of iPads:
~ For internet research
~ To record practical assessments
~ For inspiration to create project work
~ To upload images of assessments/practical achievements to professional sites.
Time keeping ~ frees up time trying to book a computer room.
Enables planning lessons with more variety and improves the pace of activities as it was easy to move on and then recap later.
Promotes self assessment and peer assessment through activities such as recording role plays ~ very productive.
"Using the tablet enables me to take the device to all learning spaces and record work in progress ~ something i couldn't do with a desktop".
Instant access to a wide range of resources ~ therefore learning is more varied and interactive.
Spontaneous discussions in class led to visual research and deeper learning skills were demonstrated.
Lesson planning was made easier by allocating time for independent study. Clear objectives could be set and achieved by all learners at different levels throughout the session.
HIGH levels of differentiation were planned through the tablets apps and activities pre-loaded onto devices.

"Direct links to the interactive whiteboard was really helpful when expanding individual activities to the whole group for discussions and reviewing".
94% said they enjoyed using the iPads considerably MORE, compared with other learning methods.
Greater level of collaborative work ~ for both students and staff through sharing resources and through group work in class.
100% of learners said they felt using the iPads had enhanced their learning, and they had a better understanding of theory.
