The Respiratory System Functions Career/education/salary diseases Homeostasis Provides oxygen needed for cellular respiration and removes excess carbon dioxide from the body Career : Respiratory care practioner/ therapist
Responsible for assesment, diognosis, treatment, and education of patients with respiratory problems as directed by a physician. Education to become a Respiratory care practioner/ therapist you have to be a high school graduate or have a GED, graduate of an approved respiratory care program, 1 to 2 years of expirience are critical, credentialed by the National Board of respiration care as CRTor RRT and current registated status with in the Salary Average 52,200 a year, with middle 50% earning between 44,490 and 61,720. The people that have more education, training, and experience may be able to command salaries toward the higher end of the scale. To maintain homeostasis in the Respiratory system , it goes trough gas exchange
and regulation of blood ph. Lung Cancer and Lung Disease

Begins when microscopic air sacs within a lung deteriorate, usually
because tabacco smoke has triggered the release of enzymes that attack its elastic fibers.
Did you know? smoking What marijuana does to your body DARE male:Average lung size is approximately 1060g (right lung-570, left lung-490g) Felames :Average lung size is approximately 930g (right lung-500g, left lung-430g) The lungs are the largest organs located inside the thorax. Gas exchange is performed by the the lungs, it eliminates carbon dioxide(CO2), as CO2 exits the body. The oxygen that is needed for cellular respiration, provides energy for the body. Lack of O2 affects brain function, sense of judgment and other problems. An infection in your Respiratory System may make you cough or sneeze. Size Structures Nose
Resources Cited Disorders How to take care of your Respiratory system Lung cancer Gas Exchange Gas exchange happens by diffusion across the membrane of an aveolus and a capillary. Lung cancer is mostly caused by smoking. It starts when abnormal cells grow out of control they can start growing anywhere in the lung and affects any part of the Respiratory System. This disease is particularly deadly because by the time it is detected it has already spread to a dozen other places. The best solution to prevent this horrible desease is to stop or not to smoke at all. Even if you have been smoking for years your health can improve by quitting.
The best way to take care of your Respiratory System is by not smoking Smoking marijuana is more irritating and has a greater effect on the upper airways than tabacco. May cause lung, head, and neck cancer.
It can be prevented by being a healthy nonsmoker :)
The right lung is slighty larger than your left The surface area of your lungs is roughly the same size as a tennis court The cappillaries in the lungs would extend 1,600kl if they were placed end to end We lose half a liter of water a day through breathing Stille R. The respiratory system gets the air we need while the circulatory system transports it all over the body. They both work together to get rid of carbon dioxide which is considered a waste product. Asthma asthma is an inflammatory disorder of the airways, It causes attacks of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and coughing. Asthma is often caused by allergies to dust, mold, and pollen. Current Research/ Technology about the Respiratory System The pulmonary research group develops anatomically based mathematical models of the Respiratory System, from the cellular level to the whole organ systems. The purpose for this research is to better understand the structure, funtions, and interactiions with other organ systems. Auckland Bioengineering Institude
