Fun Facts
Horse Skeletal System:
-Horses have evolved to have something called a "stay apparatus". What is does is it helps a horse sleep standing up. The tendons and ligaments in the front legs are placed so the horse can relax and not fall. The hind leg however, to do this the horse must rotate its hip and hook one bone up and over another bone, which can be a problem because sometimes the patella (knee) can get locked. -Some breeds of horses, such as some Arabian horses, only have 17 pairs of ribs instead of 18. -80 out of the 205 bones a horse has are located in the legs.
