Osteoblasts create bone by secreting osteoid, the organic portion of the bone matrix. After repair, the osteoblasts get trapped inside and become osteocytes.
Break down any extra bone the osteoblasts produce. They usually have more than one nucleus because they are formed from two or more cells. Osteoclasts come from bone marrow and are similar to white blood cells.
The prefix "osteo" is Greek for bone, so all of these cells that start with "osteo" can be easily associated with bones.
Osteocytes are the cells inside of the bone. They are formed from osteoblasts that are completely surrounded by the bone matrix and have stopped secreating osteiod.

Osteogenic cells are premature osteoblasts and are incapable of creating bone.
Our bones need continuous remodeling to keep their strength. In order to maintain homeostasis, osteoblasts and osteoclasts work together and our bones stay in working order.
The osteoclasts break down any excess bone using an enzyme called tartrate resistant acid phosphotase.
Osteoblasts produce an enzyme called alkaline phosphotase, which creates the mineral part of the bone.
Osteoblasts mature into the osteocytes which have little "branches" that are used to communicate with other osteocytes within the bone.

Scientists are still researching on experimenting, trying to find a cure to this disease. They have been looking into how they can use osteoblasts to generate more bone matrix, and use that in a way to help people with osteoporosis.

One of the most common approaches to treating bone cancer is a surgical removal of the cancer. If that is not possible, chemotherapy and radiation therapy are also highly recommended, but every approach to cancer is different, depending on the person. Scientists are still researching to find a cure for all kinds of cancer, including bone cancer.
