Always aim high, work hard, and care deeply about what you believe in. And, when you stumble, keep faith. And, when you're knocked down, get right back up and never listen to anyone who says you can't or shouldn't go on.

BUT IT IS SO EASY!
There are a few very simple techniques which if you learn, you will look incredible .... and hands down better than all your colleagues
We break public speaking down into
It's so easy to become amazing quickly...
The average candidate with no public speaking experience - just by looking at this prezi, you WILL be better than them!!!
Public Speaking is EASY!!
Just think of it like a series of easy checklists

tick, tick, tick = stunning speaker
AS you get louder and louder (and faster and faster) , you take your audiences emotions higher and higher till you've whipped up a frenzy. AND THEY WILL DO WHAT YOU ASK THEM TO DO i.e VOTE Jame for JCR president
Here is an example from the previous video

Watch again and listen to where he says

i am NOT A DESTROYER OF COMPANIES!!
i am a LIBERATOR OF THEM

(getting louder and louder and taking the audience's (YOU) emotions with him
Really LOUDLY i want you to project (to another person, or an empty room) the words

1) ''Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness''
Clench your abdominal muscles to give you the strength to project your voice

Do this 3 x getting louder each time

2) THEN do the same with

''PUBLIC SPEAKING IS EASY''

3) Then one last time, say
''My name is ..... and i can speak in public!!''
Most of us speak like this....
Way too fast...
and so most of the time, it ends up looking like this...
Because the audience
Just slower than sounds normal in your head.

It will sound weird in your head

BUT it will sound AMAZING to the audience!!
This is the MOST IMPORTANT BIT OF PUBLIC SPEAKING
You can be rubbish at public speaking, but if you come up with a DIFFERENT, UNIQUE or AWESOME opening--> People will think you are an incredible public speaker

GIVE A UNIQUE OPENING and you've done 60% of the work needed to give an INCREDIBLE SPEECH
People pay attention at the
BEGINNING
of things and at the
END

YOU NEED TO BE DIFFERENT AND SMASH IT HOME at the BEGINNING and the END
so that, even if they don't remember everything you've said, people go away thinking
''that was the person with that incredible opening, wow they were INCREDIBLE''
As human beings we unfortunately make very strong first impressions, very QUICKLY!!

You have a 30 second window to impress (or distract) your audience and WIN their attention from their iPhones... 30 seconds, otherwise it's gone, you've lost their attention and it wont come back!
We've given you 8 incredible openings to STUN your audience into TOTAL AWE....

8 openings and 3 categories

USE them, steal them, pillage them.

Think of them as a drag and drop formula. ''Hmm today i think i'm going to to use this one''.

Use any of them and the audience will think YOU ARE INCREDIBLE!!
You need to be different to Prof Boring who just comes up to the front and says quietly

''my name is Prof Boring and I'm here to talk to today about differential equations'

--> he's lost the audience attention already

YOU need to come up
and start off
WITH A BANG

''DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WILL CAHNGE YOUR LIFE''
OR
''EVERY SECOND, A DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS SAVES YOUR LIFE''
OR
''HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE HAD A DATE WITH A DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION?''
This short video is an AMAZING example of how to open with a BANG and whip up a FRENZY using QUESTIONS!!
What's your 30 second first impression of him?
What about him?
What's your 30 second first impression of him?
What about him?
Say this with a strong body posture, while holding eye contact and SMILING

USE THEM to articulate your message - you LOOK SO CONFIDENT and SLICK

Always keep your hands ABOVE YOUR WAIST
or failing that at least behind your back and out of your pockets
DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS IN YOUR POCKET!!
This is first thing the audience will see in your 30 second battle for their attention..

If you step out away from the Lectern,
1)
they will automatically think
''WOW, he's so confident''
and
2)
now you can show off (with no barrier) that lovely warm open body language and your lovely smile which will make the audience WARM to you

so you WIN their attention with your
1)
confidence and
2)
warmth
And if u you then
1)
start moving around, you will look INCREDIBLE and CONFIDENT
And
2)
if you can walk amongst them YOU WILL HAVE UTTERLY blown them away with your oozing confidence and lovely warmth...
Gets rid of adrenaline
