Corporate This Kinect Security System can also be used in the corporate world. This could cut the physical man hours and also record the events that happen outside of an office. Or it can work along with the security guards to prevent intruders from breaking into the offices information. With the sensors of SDK face tracking and Skeleton detection software it can give an image of the person who attempted to break in. Jeannie Ulrich

Personal Use
Kinect works as a Watch Dog at your home. To properly secure your home, you will need to place Kinect devices in the locations that you wish to secure. It or they must remain connected to a high end PC capable of doing video encoding and up streaming. The Kinect devices are run by a WPF application that remains in “Patrol Mode” while there is no human intrusion. Inside the sensor case, a Kinect for Windows sensor contains:
•An RGB camera that stores three channel data in a 1280x960 resolution. This makes capturing a color image possible.
•An infrared (IR) emitter and an IR depth sensor. The emitter emits infrared light beams and the depth sensor reads the IR beams reflected back to the sensor. The reflected beams are converted into depth information measuring the distance between an object and the sensor. This makes capturing a depth image possible.
•A multi-array microphone, which contains four microphones for capturing sound. Because there are four microphones, it is possible to record audio as well as find the location of the sound source and the direction of the audio wave. Kinect Hardware-Mike Ball Kinect Application Example of Skeleton Detection on Kinect The Kinect makes a great security device commercially or in the home because of its powerful software which allows it to be connected to a PC or Windows phone.
The Kinect software allows it to be much more powerful than your standard home security system.
When used with a Windows phone the motorized tilt function of the camera allows the users to remotely move the camera around the room. Motion capture software: Processes and records the movement of objects or people.
Facial recognition software: Measures the distances between the eyes, width of the nose, depth of the eye sockets, shape of the cheekbones, and length of the jaw line.
Voice recognition software: Converts analog waves spoken into digital format.
Gesture recognition software: Hand movements are recorded to control devices or applications.
Skeleton detection software: Uses the combination of points where each part is connected. KINECT SOFTWARE The Kinect uses proprietary software which provides full body 3-D capabilities including:
Motion Capture
Facial Recognition
Voice Recognition
Gesture Recognition
Skeleton Detection When in Patrol Mode the Kinect sends photos to Windows Azure every 10 seconds of what it sees in your home. Whenever an intrusion is detected, the Kinect changes itself to “Intrusion Mode” and alerts Windows Azure and starts streaming the video to the Smooth Streaming Server hosted on Windows Azure The Azure notifies all the devices that are subscribed (Windows Phone / Windows 8) using a toast and will allow the application to view the live streaming. Your phone receives an alert Azure begins to stream what is happening in your home to the cloud and your phone receives the live stream. picture from http://abhijitjana.net/2012/04/16/home-security-system-using-kinect-azure-windows-phone-and-windows-8/ TheWindows Phone pulls the data from the cloud to your phone.
